In January 2026, Dreamztech convened an internal workshop using the LEGO® Serious Play® (LSP) methodology to boost team thinking, communication, and creativity among staff. The half-day session (about 15–20 participants, facilitated by a licensed LSP practitioner) guided team members to build and share LEGO metaphors of their ideas. The hands-on, minds-on process helped surface hidden assumptions and emotions, leveling the playing field so every voice was heard. By literally “building their thinking,” participants generated new insights about their roles and goals, reported higher engagement and psychological safety, and left with a clearer shared vision.

Dreamztech designed the LEGO Serious Play workshop to strengthen team thinking rather than just team bonding. On January 28, 2026, about 15–20 Dreamztech employees (mix of developers, designers and managers) gathered in the company’s Johor Bahru training room. A certified LSP facilitator from the Association of Master Trainers led the session. Participants sat in clusters with individual LEGO kits. The goal was to align around shared goals, surface new ideas, and deepen understanding of each other’s roles.

The half-day session unfolded in steps. First, the facilitator introduced LSP principles, emphasizing “hands-on” building and the value of every voice. (This orientation framed the models as tools for conversation.) Then participants did a warm-up exercise: a quick build (e.g. a “tower of strength”) to get comfortable with the bricks.

Next came two main activities. In Build 1, each person received a prompt about personal work experiences or aspirations and built an individual model (using meaningful colors and shapes). After building, each shared the story behind their model. In Build 2, the whole team co-created a single model to represent a collective concept (such as “our vision” or “our role in the company”). Each share-out was accompanied by discussion, with peers asking open-ended questions to probe deeper.

Throughout, the facilitator encouraged reflective storytelling around the models. The transparent rule was that there are no wrong answers; metaphor and narrative were tools to uncover insight. By the end, the team had a creative “shared language” – a literal model – representing their collective understanding. As one participant noted afterward, the session created a relaxed space “where everyone felt comfortable expressing ideas through play”

These personal vignettes highlight several themes: initial apprehension gave way to calm engagement as participants built their models. The choice of colors and shapes in each model reflected each person’s inner mindset (e.g. blue for calm, red for passion, green for growth). Constructing and telling stories about the models unlocked emotions: participants literally added pieces to convey excitement (“fired up” as one said) or obstacles they overcame.
Across the group, even reserved members became animated. One newcomer noted feeling goose bumps thinking about their model (capturing a sense of pride and purpose). Crucially, everyone reported feeling listened to: the shared, nonverbal vocabulary of LEGO bricks helped the quieter voices speak up. As one participant put it: “I realized I had the same idea as my colleague – it was gratifying to see our models align. It felt like we all contributed equally to the story.” This matches research that LSP “provides all participants with a voice” regardless of hierarchy.

In conclusion, the LEGO® Serious Play session successfully strengthened collaboration, communication, and creative thinking within the team. Through hands-on building, storytelling, and sharing personal interpretations, participants were able to express ideas, emotions, and perspectives in a meaningful and engaging way. The activity not only encouraged deeper reflection behind each structure — including first impressions, color choices, and symbolic elements — but also fostered a supportive environment where everyone felt comfortable contributing. The shared experience brought the team closer together while reinforcing the value of collective thinking and open dialogue.
Dreamztech would like to extend its sincere appreciation to head trainer Ang Wei Yun and her team for conducting this insightful and engaging session. Their guidance, facilitation, and thoughtful approach created a positive atmosphere that enabled participants to fully immerse themselves in the process while having fun. The company looks forward to applying the lessons learned and continuing to build stronger teamwork through similar initiatives in the future.
